I’ve just bought macbook for two weeks and in the first weeks I found that my iSight was not working. As soon as I turn on the power, the green light was shine, and when I launch the photobooth application, the camera blacked out. It’s not happening all the time though (sometimes it’s normal after restart), and it come back in the next day. I bring it to the apple center, and they asked me to do disc utility checking. It didn’t solve my problem. I browse google and find these useful tips:
Resetting PRAM and NVRAM
- Shut down the computer.
- Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
- Turn on the computer.
- Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
- Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
- Release the keys.
Your computer’s PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.
Solution to fix your black screen camera on your MacBook:
1) Shut down your Mac.
2) Remove the battery and plug power sources.
3) Hold the on/off Power switch button on your Mac for 5 seconds.
4) Reconnect the battery and turn your Mac back on. That should re-enable your internal iSight camera.
